Hard Core by Madison Faye

My edition: Kindle Unlimited
Pages: 166
Series: Dirty Bad Things #1
Genre: Smut, Military Hero
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis:

She’s sweet, pure, and untouched, and she’s about to lose her innocence on camera. To me.

Trust me, I’m no porn star, even if I do have the equipment of one. But when the Moretti crime family comes calling to collect on a debt I owe, they want it in trade.

You see, there’s big money in dirty movies, and the more real the better. Me? I’m already filthy, damaged goods from my time in Afghanistan.

But then I meet Rose, my”so-star”, and my whole world shatters.

She owes the Moretti’s too, but she’s too good for all of this. Too sweet, too beautiful-too innocent for this shit. And I’ll be damned if I let them steal that away from her.

It’s wrong that she’s here, but it’s also wrong that she wants me to “teach her” things. It’s worse that I want to.

But one taste of her lips, and I’m hooked. One touch of her soft skin, and I know Rose is going to be mine. Not the camera’s. Mine.

The virgin with the debt, the ex-marine with the dick, and a porno for the mob.

Welcome to Vegas, baby.

Review:

I think Madison Faye is going to be up on my top list of smut authors. I did like this, I didn’t love it. The story line was excellent but the characters lacked something for me.

It was the hero. He came off as bland. Like any other hero in books. Nothing stood out to me about him.

While the mob story line kept me wanting more, the couple didn’t. I will read the next one because it came to me as an ARC. I know I am reading it late. Unfortunately I am reading a lot of ARCs late. I need to catch up.

I thought I knew what hell was like.
I was wrong.
Hell is coming.
Hell is just the beginning.

First book: Born Sinner
Next book: Wicked Ruin

Review:

And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

Wow. This one was something I did not expect. Eden has taken Lucifer’s hand and is now in hell. There she meets Niko. Niko is going to help her get through hell. Eden has much to face going up against the devil at his own game.

Beauty is a distraction-a diversion-from the ugliness pulsing within these walls.

I like that even though Eden goes through challenges she never gets rid of her sense of humor.

No offense to Ben- he’s nice. Which is exactly the problem. I don’t do nice. Or easy. Or comfortable. Probably explains my current predicament, but at least I’m consistent.

“Excuse me, but- Johnny baby, is it?-yeah, I know that steroids can shrink your balls, but I wasn’t aware that they actually turned people into dicks. Quick, Snookie Barbie! Stuff him in your mouth before the little fella gets away!”

At first I wasn’t sure I was going to make through some parts of the book. I actually got queasy but I understand what the author did. I mean it is the devil she is writing about so she had to go to an extreme.

While Eden gets preached to she knows how to keep it real. This is what I like about her. She doesn’t hid the ugly truth when it comes down to hit.

Crime in Chicago is out of control. And that’s not the work of seven rogue demons. Humans destroyed this city. Humans are fighting and killing and hurting each other every day all over the world. Maybe it’s time we take ownership of that.

L… What can I say about L but he is an alpha demon that I liked and trying not to love but It’s hard.

Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”
“My name is Legion,” he replied, “For we are many.”

He is power. He is pain. He. Is. Legion. And after centuries of slumber, the beast has just been awakened.

This man is ready to get his love back even if it means battling Lucifer. While a bigger opponent is revealed at the end that is more dangerous than Lucifer I can’t help but fall in love with L.

On to the next book. Wonder if it will be the final one or if there is more to this series.

Tool by Sabrina Paige

My edition: Kindle Unlimited
Pages: 349
Series: A Step-Brother Romance #2
Rating: 3 stars
Synopsis:

I call him “Tool” because he’s a dick.

Gaige O’Neal is nicknamed “Tool” because of what he’s packing. Rumor is, he’s well equipped.

I wouldn’t know. I’ve never had the pleasure.

He’s cocky, entitled, insufferable a**hole who’s as reckless with women as he is with that stupid motorcycle he races.

He’s also my step brother. Lucky me.

It’s been four years since I’ve seen him. Four years since he’s made me so frustrated I could scream. Four years since he’s given me that look, the one that makes me instantly wet.

So it’s just f**ing fitting that the first time I see him in four years, he’s buried beneath three scantily clad blondes.

Now I’m stuck her under the same roof with him while he recovers from a racing injury. An injury that clearly hasn’t affected the use of his tool.

The problem is, as much as I despise him, I just can’t help myself. I want to find out what kind of tool he’s working with.

ReviewSBHkNqt

I wasn’t very impressed with Gaige’s “tool”. This was better than the first book, Prick. I wasn’t a big fan of Delaney. She got annoying. But luckily by the end when she finally was able to stand up to everyone.

Now unlike in the first book I like the hero. This is the type of my man I like. He didn’t care if people caught them. He just wanted to be with Delaney. I’m very happy he wasn’t like Caulter.

I loved the bickering between Delaney and Gaige. Their relationship started out slow but really had a fire when it started. The pranks they pulled on each other were funny as well. Gaige’s present on Delaney’s first day of work made me laugh out loud. The story flowed well. There were a few issues that were stated in the beginning but were fully explained till the end.

The ending was cute. I liked it. I thought this book was better than the first one. I hope the rest in the series are like this book.

What’ve we learned here at GearShark?

Drew is all of the above.

We also know he’s got some secrets buried under his hood.

Secrets we think are loaded with octane and just might set the world of cars on fire.

This is an M/M romance.

Review:giphy

Alright friends it has happened. My M/M cherry has been popped!!! I was wary at first because this is a genre totally out of my comfort zone just like the genre dark. But I decided halfway through #Bae I wanted to know Drew and Trent’s story. I knew in #Heart that something was up with those two. It was a feeling. I liked that Hebert had that there. It makes her a great author.

Drew and Trent hit it off right way when they met at Screamerz. They were best of friends. They loved cars and they both had Mustangs. Lately though Trent is starting to realize he loves Drew. No not loves but loves Drew. What he doesn’t know is Drew feels the same way. One night Drew is hiding out with a girl named Joey at a gay bar trying to avoid a guy named Lorhaven. Drew sees Trent at the bar talking to another guy. From there Drew knew he was a goner for Trent. Trent finally confesses that he has been questioning himself. Drew got pissed that Trent was keeping such a secret from him. A secret he wanted to try with Trent.

I was glad this was my first M/M romance. Trent and Drew were adorable together. I love how possessive of Trent Drew is and how protective of Drew Trent is. So cute. I am shipping this hard. But seriously Drew’s jealousy is just too damn cute. The protectiveness Trent has, kind of a turn on. I love these two. I love them even more together.

#Bae by Cambria Hebert

My edition: Kindle (Owned copy)
Pages: 334
Series: Hashtag #7
Rating:4.5
Synopsis:

Happily-ever-after.
That’s what happens when you get married.
Right?
Turns out sparkly rings, cake and a fantastic wedding do not automatically grant you that, not even when it’s all you truly want.
I’m even starting to doubt the bottomless, unconditional love I share with the man I married will be enough.
I can’t have happily ever after, know why?
Because I can’t give Romeo what he truly wants. I’ve tried. So hard. I won’t be happy unless he is and something is missing.
Someone.
Paparazzi are in my face. The flashing cameras and prying eyes are everywhere. My secret is getting harder to hide, and I know the second the scoop is dished the grip I hove on the fraying rope that happily ever after will snap right in my face.
In our face.
I can’t let that happen. No matter what.
Because with or without a happy ending, Romeo comes Before Anyone Else.

Review: All I expect is for you to breathe. -Romeo

Romeo and Rimmel are having a happy marriage. Everything is going peaceful when one day Rimmel wakes up to have her world shattered. Her and Romeo are trying to pick up the pieces to heal together, but the press, and some people from the past have other news for them.

I finally accepted the fact I was really struggling today, and with that acceptance, it became a little easier to breathe. -Rimmel

I like that the relationship did change after the horrible news. Romeo and Rimmel still love each other but dealing with their grief has put a barrier between them. The way they work past that makes it that more realistic. Rimmel having to deal with her heartache but she puts on a front so no one worries about her. I love the heart of stone she is written with. She puts everyone else before herself. Most of all she puts Romeo before everyone else. She tries to remain strong for Romeo even when she is dying on the inside. Of course Rome knows what’s going on and makes her open up as much as she will let him.

It isn’t your fault. These things, these horrible things just happen. -Valerie

Most New Adult books have a thing me and a few people call magic peen. What that is is when a MC mostly a heroine has something horrible happen, most cases it’s rape, she has issues dealing with that as any human should. Then out of no where *clears throat, sings* here comes our hero to save the day with his magic penis!!!!*stops singing* All of the sudden our heroine forgets whatever issues she had and is all better. NO!! Authors please stahhhp that shit.

Again as I was saying with the magic peen, this book does not have it. I wanted to jump for joy with that. Thank you Hebert for making this without magic peen. Romeo and Rimmel have to deal with real life shit. But it’s okay. They make it through it. They even become a stronger couple due to this.

Here’s the thing: when you back a wounded dog into a corner, it’s going to come out fighting. -Romeo

Romeo is a man after my own heart. He is up there on my book boyfriend list with the other Romeo from Sweet Home and Preppy from King. His love for Rimmel never faltered. If anything it grew stronger. Romeo also showed that even though you’re an alpha male, sometimes you need to lean on your queen.

Yes I recommend this series. Even though #Selfie and #Poser are not anywhere near my favorites I still recommend. I’m a little sad that it’s ended but hey every great series has that bittersweet moment. Now if you excuse me. I need to go crawl into a fetal postiton and figure what I’m going to do with my life.

#Holiday by Cambria Hebert

My edition:Kindle Unlimited
Pages: 86
Series: Hashtag 6.5
Rating: 3 stars
Synopsis:

Givers gonna give…
Twas the night of game day,
And all through the town,
Lacey glittering snowflakes fluttered around.
They clung to the roads, concealing everything with white.
It was a beautiful #holiday sight.
The paparazzi were out without any care,
In hopes to catch Romeo and Rimmel, rumored to be there.
When out on the road there arose such a clatter.
The Hellcat spun out, but it shouldn’t matter.
I pulled out my cell to dial in a flash.
But the battery was dead. What useless trash.
The moonlight glistenng on new fallen snow.
Made us forget we needed a tow.
For the season was upon us. Our family was alight.
Our #holiday was destined to be merry and bright.

Review: This was a cute short story. It was an update on what was going on three months after #Heart. The press are hard at it with wanting pictures of little Nova and pressure is on Rome and Rimmel to start having babies.

There were a bunch of cute scenes in this. No drama, just the family having a nice Christmas Eve and Christmas.

I’m gonna bring our family even closer together.
The past has taught me it won’t be easy.
Especially when faced with repercussions from a night that ended in death.
But that’s okay.
Family doesn’t quit each other.
Love like ours never dies.
Happily ever after isn’t just for storybooks.

Review: Spoilers if you haven’t read the other books in the series.

Okay besides the first one this one is my favorite. It had so many cute scenes. Braeden and Ivy gah!!! I had my suspicions about them and they were confirmed. It made me so happy the way they got their HEA. Now Romeo and Rimmel’s HEA I have a feeling is in #BAE which I can’t wait to read but have a short story to read before that.

The way Rimmel and Romeo got married was so adorable. Just the way Romeo proposed was so amazing.

This book made me want to go back to the very first book just to see these two fall in love again. There were even hints from the first book in this. But before I can go and reread I have to make it through the last two books in the series. Then I will start GearShank series which will be a write off from this one with Drew and Trent. I have a certain feeling about those two. 😉

#Poser by Cambria Hebert

My Edition:Kindle Unlimited
Pages: 393
Series: Hashtag #5
Rating: 3 stars
Synopsis: Off of Goodreads

Posers gonna pose.
I am a man who had nothing, but found everything.

I’ll never go back to nothing ever again.

I vowed to protect her, and that’s exactly what I’m gonna do.

The pictures I stumbled upon haunt me still, the secret I shoulder is heavy.

They say secrest put distance between two people, but the truth is far mor destructive than keeping it will ever be.

I won’t ever tell. She can’t ever know.

When I look in the mirror my reflection is of who I’m afraid I’ll become and not the man I am.

It makes me feel like a poser, no better than all the others pretending to be exactly who they aren’t.

How does a man keep it together when everything is unraveling right here in his hands.

I didn’t start any of this.

I never asked for it.

But it came knocking at my door.

When secrets and threats knock, I don’t hide.

I open the door.

Because the best way to take down a poser is to be one.

Review: SO I really don’t know why but I cannot stand this cover. It really annoys the shit out of me. Maybe it’s the stereotype or maybe it looks like Barbie threw up on the cover, I don’t know. All I do know is that I want to punch cover it up.

Anydick on to the review. I knew this book was going to be drama, drama, drama, when 1.I heard read Zach was back, 2. and blurb really hinted a ton of drama.

I think I’ve decided that I am not an Ivy fan. It was easy to fall in love with Rimmel but with Ivy she just doesn’t grab my attention. She just wasn’t a favorite. I am however a Braeden fan. He won my heart.

Most of this book could do without somethings. Like the whole Ivy styling people. Who cares. Ivy always looking at people’s clothes and describing how stylish it was. I really didn’t like that. Now we did get Zach’s P.O.V. for about three or four chapters.  Yeah him and Missy can go suck eggs. I almost started to feel for Zach when he opened up about his mother, but it doesn’t justify what he did and he’s an asshat.

This one was not my favorite or anywhere near it but it wasn’t a complete and total waste. Which I like to consider good.

#Selfie by Cambria Hebert

My edition: Kindle Unlimited
Pages: 253
Series: Hashtag #4
Rating:3 stars
Synopsis: Off of Goodreads.

It’s all about the #Selfie

She was the one girl I never wanted.

Until I had her.

One night.

One mistake.

Something we both wanted to forget.

I got rid of the proof. The one piece of evidence that could remind us of both.

At least, I thought I did.

When it shows up on the school BuzzFeed, rumors fly. Friendships are tested and the feels get real.

I don’t do relationships. I don’t open my heart.

Especially for a girl everyone knows I hate.

What happens during spring beak, stays in spring break.

Until it follows you home.

Review: Of course you could tell something was going to go down between Braeden and Ivy. That was a given by the way they acted towards each other in #Player. I knew it wasn’t going to be Missy because he just didn’t feel that way about her. Yeah they had a ‘friends with benefits’ deal, but he cut it off due to Missy feelings. If he wanted to have a relationship with her then it would have happened already.

The brother, sister love that Braeden has with Rimmel is so adorable. I love how close they are to each other. Rimmel is the only girl Braeden has let into his heart. He doesn’t think he will ever settle down. In Braeden’s mind Rimmel is his little sister no matter what. BBFL.

The way Braeden and Ivy bicker at each other, come on anyone can see that these two have the hots for each other. I knew that this one was going to be drama. Missy is still hung up on Braeden. Trent is starting to have the hots for Ivy. Add those together along with Braeden and Ivy’s spring break incident and we have a recipe for disaster.

Even though this one wasn’t as long as the first three books, it seemed to kind of drag on. I’m not sure if I am a fan of Ivy’s. I know I like Braeden, even if he is kind of stupid asshat at times.

I also don’t really like the cover to this or to the next book #Poser. But oh well. At the end of this one there was one note that made me want to scream.

Zach is back.

Oh boy… on to the next one.

#Player by Cambria Hebert

My edition:Kindle Unlimited
Pages:580
Series: Hashtag #3
Rating: 3.5 stars
Synopsis: Off of Goodreads

Players gotta play.
Hate is like a poison. It contaminates everything.
So does doubt.
Even though I deny what I overheard, even though I insist it isn’t true, the seed of doubt has been planted. I can’t help but be tormented with the endless what-if’s that have taken over out lives.
Romeo and I were happy in love. The future stretched before us brighter than any star in the darkest sky. Now everything is broken. Literally broken. Romeo’s entire career is at stake, my entire future is threatened… and my past?
It’s coming back to haunt me.
To haunt us.
Romeo says w’re in this together and right now the only sure thing is us. But how far can a love so new be pushed? The lengths we will have to go to save each other puts everything at risk.
Romeo is a #player but how much of the game can one person play?

Review: Okay first things first… that blurb… depressing as shit. I didn’t really read the blurb until I had to write it for this post.

Now onto the book… this one wasn’t drama all the way through and it wasn’t just sex, sex, sex either. We got a little more into depth with Romeo and Rimmel’s relationship. Romeo’s mom is still kind of a bitch to me. That won’t ever change. I understand she did what she did but she could have done something differently. But then again there really wouldn’t have been much of a plot for this story.

Zach wasn’t as big in this as in the first and second book which was nice since he was the one who brought on a ton of drama that was beyond ridiculous.

I think I really do like that each book has is the Alpha buzz on the first page of every chapter. Some of those are really funny.

you’d be Optimus Fine.

Now Hebert can write some good sex scenes. The fire between Romeo and Rimmel was burning bright. I mean damn. I had to stop reading this at work once because 1. it was really good and 2. it was so good I started to get into a mood. Yeah I had to stop.

tumblr_lpp4dwRVm51qclt3z

In most reviews you will see people swooning over the ending. After reading the ending, yes I am part of the swooners. It was awesome. Now at the end it says #Selfie is Braeden’s story. Hmmm… Let’s do this.
