Review:

The first book made me lose sleep due to an incident. I hoped that this one wasn’t as horrid and I could sleep at night.

A slow start… In my last trilogy, all the books had over 500 pages and it seemed like that went by extremely fast. This one on the other hand seems to take forever. And so far the books are under 300 pages. I don’t get it. When it seemed like I made progress and I felt like I was halfway through the book, turned out I wasn’t even close. UGH! But then once I made it to halfway it went by really fast. At least with this book it did.

Rema is in the rebel base. They don’t really treat her as the person she is supposed to be to them. Also don’t know if this is a plot hole or what, but why didn’t Rema grow up in the Fortress instead of being put with a family in the very southern region? The royal family had no idea the Fortress existed so… WHY WASN’T REMA RAISED THERE INSTEAD?

Anyway, I hate when there is a triangle and both men are equal. At first, I shipped Savenek and Rema hard. They had this haters-to-lovers thing going on. But then it fizzled out fast when Savenek found out about Rema’s true identity. After that, he became a brat who didn’t get his way. Then when he found out about Darmik, he became an even bigger cry baby. At least to say, I don’t ship Savenek anymore and Darmik redeemed himself. Though I’m not a fan of Savenek’s hot and cold, I’m really not a fan of the fighting over Rema.

The ending was okay. It did end on another cliffhanger. Though it’s not one that made me want to just dive straight into the final book. I do have the final book and I plan on reading it.
