Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright

Genre: Shifter, Paranormal Romance, Fantasy
Rating: 5 stars

Synopsis:

If your inner wolf and your body react rather enthusiastically to a psychotic Alpha male who’s own wolf has a tendency to turn feral, it can’t be a good thing, can it? Entering into a bargain with him wouldn’t be good either. Unfortunately, Taryn Warner, a latent wolf shifter, doesn’t have many options open to her right now. Okay, she has no options. Basically it comes down to whether she’ll do what it takes to escape the arranged mating with the sick SOB that her father set up. As the answer in this case yes, it looks as though she’ll have to agree to Trey Coleman’s deal… she’ll have to mate with him instead.

Having always disliked shifter politics, Trey Coleman hadn’t bothered trying to form alliances with other packs. Now that his uncle- a wolf with many alliances- means to take Trey’s territory and his pack, he has no option but to form some alliances of his own very quickly or he’ll be easily outnumbered in the upcoming battle. He figures that the easiest way to do that would be to mate with a female whose Alpha is powerful and influential. There’s only on problem with that-he would then be stuck with her, and the last thing Trey wants is a mate. When he hears of Taryn’s situation, he offers her a deal-if she falsely claims he’s her true mate and allows him to claim her, he’ll save her from her arranged mating and then let her leave after the battle with his uncle is over.

Sounds like a pretty straight forward deal… but soon Taryn and Trey realize they got more than they bargained for. Their mating instincts to protect and possess are weighing on them, They crave each other’s touch and company, and their inner wolves don’t like it whenever they’re apart. Add in the’ll have to deal with this for an entire three months until the day of the battle finally arrives, and they’ve got themselves a recipe for disaster-or maybe for something quite the opposite.

Warning: This novel contains an extremely sarcastic Alpha female, a broody possessive Alpha male, bitter in-laws, voyeuristic enforcers, a whole lot of dirty talk, and steamy bedroom battles for dominance.
Reader Advisory: This book also contains a graphic menage scene- not for the faint-hearted.

Review:

Wow!!

This book had me laughing a lot. The heroine and the hero are both my favorite couple of the year. They fit each other perfectly.

I love Trey. There was a little bit in the book that he was a major asshat but he came around and redeemed himself in my eyes.

Taryn, this girl is funny as hell. She don’t take no shit from nobody including Trey.

There was not one thing I found wrong with the book. I loved it through and through. The two MCs fit perfect. They had amazing chemistry together. I love Taryn and Greta (Trey’s grandmother) bickering. They had some pretty good insults at each other. Trey’s dominance in the bedroom had me drooling. I loved how he was.

I’m sort of scared to read the next books because I am scared they won’t live up to this one. I mean the sequels have to be as good or better than the first book but I’m treading lightly.

Sincerely, Carter by Whitney G.

My edition: Kindle Unlimited
Pages:237
Series: Sincerely Carter #1
Genre: NA
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis:

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
No, really. She’s just my best friend.

Arizona Turner has been my best friend since fourth grade, even when we “hated” each other. We’ve been there for one another through first kisses, first “times”, and we’ve been each other’s constant when good relationships turned bad. (We even went to colleges that were minutes away from each other…)

Throughout the years, and despite what anyone says, we’ve never crossed the line.

Never thought about it.
Never wated to.

Until one night changed everything.
At least, it should’ve…

Just friends.
We’re just friends.
I’m only saying this until I figure out if she’s still “just” my best friend.

Review:

Cute story. I have read a novella trilogy by this author which I had a love and hate relationship with, but this book was okay.

Like I said cute story but I didn’t feel anything. I liked the characters and the story line but I didn’t love anything about it.

I’m going to read another book by this author and see how I feel.

You’re still here. Okay don’t blame me because I spoiled something for ya. I put a warning.

So this is the last book of the series. I was excited.

I needed it and I need it now.

But I didn’t get excitement after I read this.

umm-nogiphygiphy-2anigif_enhanced-buzz-8219-1386036811-14SBHkNqtbored

Yeah this was a disappointment.

The beginning and the synopsis amped this up for me. But it fell flat big time.

The battle we have been waiting for sucks total ass. Morgan and Morrigan really don’t fight. Morgan, after finally having sex with Bunny, has a white light which she transfers into Morrigan while taking the darkness. Then her and her guardians leave. Pretty much everyone is alive.

Before we even get to the battle, the guardians make a bet with the shaman. A bet to get the six immortals. They have to fight the immortals in the fights that they do. If the guardians win they get the contract to the immortals if they lose they owe the shaman 50 more years in the fights.

These immortals are suppose to be all time badass but the guardians defeat them really easily. That little fight sucked. We don’t even get the fight from one of the fighter’s POV. It’s from Morgan who some how did a dreamwalk or a dreamscape.

The end felt to rushed. I have more questions than answers. The end fell flat for me.

Well this is the only book that I liked out of the entire series. Eli and Ember didn’t argue like the did in the last book. They finally didn’t hide their feelings for one another.

This last book… the ending seemed very lack luster. I don’t hate the ending but it did create some questions that I know will probably never be answered. I did find out that this book is connected to the Collector series which I do like. There is another book in this series but it’s about West. Don’t know if I will read it. There is also another series that evolves Kennedy. Might read that further down the road.

For now I am happy to be done with this series finally.

Dwellers of Darkness by Stacey Marie Brown

My edition: Kindle Unlimited
Pages:341
Series: Darkness #3
Genre: Fae, Fantasy
Rating: 2.5 stars
Buddy Read with Felicia on Goodreads

Synopsis:

Some days feel like years, but in Ember Brycin’s case just the opposite is true. She had only been in the Other world for a day or two when she returned back to the Earth’s realm. But it is three years later on Earth. Em is now 22. It would matter if she was human, but she’s not. She is a Dae, part demon and part Fay, with a  little Dark Dweller thrown in to make her even more of a freak.

Seeing Seattle rebuilt only confirms she has been gone three years. For her it was not long ago that the Seattle area was just rubble of concrete and death. All done by her hand.

One thing that hasn’t changed, though, is her undeniable connection to Eli Dragen, who is sexy, gorgeous, and even more volatile and frustrating. But her problems go way past him. The seelie Queen of the Otherworld still holds Mark, Em’s father, and her friends Ryan and Josh as hostages. Em needs to rescue them without, once again, getting caught and being used as a pawn to help the Queen regain possession of Earth. At the same time Ember is in hot water with Lars, the Unseelie King, after breaking her contract with him.

As some secrets have come to light others seem to become even more enigmatic. The only truth Ember knows, is everyone is harboring secrets. As Eli’s past is revealed, Em understands more clearly why he acts the way he does and how much their lives are intertwined. but she also know s Eli is holding something back, something that could change their relationship forever.

Em herself continues to wrestle with her feelings toward Torin and her own secret she’s withholding from Kennedy. As the tension for war mounts between the Seelie and Unseelie (Light and Dark) the tension at the Dark Dweller’s compound mounts even more as they prepare to obtain the sword no matter what price. But is Ember the answer to the location of the sword? Is she the one to fulfill the prophecy? As usual nothing is ever what it seems.

Review:

Ugh!! Okay where to start.

Eli and Ember pissed me off through the first half of the book. Josh’s plot twist I could see a mile coming. Lars I didn’t. Torin annoys me. I use to like him in the first book now he is that guy who has a crush on you but no matter how many times you friendzone or block him he keeps coming back. Thara is just as annoying. I don’t like Lily. The only ones I did like were Cal and Simmons.

I love the story line I just hate the characters but two. They frustrate me to no end.

Sorry to not have a better review but I don’t want to spoil anything I just want to not jump into the book a kill a few people. Mostly Ember because she is a fucking dumbass who if she wasn’t so self centered with her drama with Eli she would see things clearly.

Fire in the Darkness by Stacey Marie Brown

My edition: Kindle Unlimited
Pages: 405
Series: Darkness #2
Genre: Fantasy, NA, Fae
Rating:3 stars
Buddy Read with Felicia on Goodreads

Synopsis:

It’s been four weeks since Ember Brycin witnessed what her powers are capable of. The Elcectrical Current Storm has turned Seattle, Washington into a natural disaster zone. The death toll is in the thousands with countless others homeless and hungry.

And Ember is the one who caused it. Something she will have to live with every day.

Those people who were unable to escape either turned quickly into gangs or live in shelters. Ember, on the other hand, can’t do wither. With a price on her head and a Dark Dweller on her ass, she is constantly on the move. Both Light and Dark are hunting her for their own purpose to use her as a weapon or a pawn in the war between the Unseelie King of the Dark and the Seelie Queen of the Light

Em needs help but doesn’t know who to trust: Lars, the mystery man Torin told her to find? Torin, the Seelie Queen’s personal knight, who has sworn to keep Em safe? Or Eli, who wants to turn her over to the Unseelie King, but whom she has an undeniable, intense connection with?

No matter what she chooses she will probably lose-her life or everything and everyone she loves.

Review:

The only reason this is a 3 star instead of a 2.5 is because of the plot twists.

Throughout the book Ember seemed like a whiny brat at times while flipping back to being a good heroine. Eli… I still do not like Eli. I can never fully tell what is going to happen with him. Is he going to final give into the sexual tension or is he going to keep being an asshole.

Ember makes bad decision after bad decision. I get she has trust issues but she’s a freaking idiot.

The plot twists. I sort of guessed one right as it was about to be revealed the other was a complete shock to me. If it wasn’t for the cliff hanger ending and me reading this as a buddy read, I might have DNF the series.

Two more books to go.

Darkness of Light by Stacey Marie Brown

My edition: Kindle Unlimited
Pages:308
Series: Darkness #1
Genre: Fantasy, Mature YA/NA Paranormal, Romance
Rating: 3.5 stars

Synopsis:

Darkness of Light is a Mature YA/NA Paranormal Romance. Warning: Darkness series on whole is not a YA but NA.

Freak. Witch. Crazy. Schizo.

Ember Brycin has been called them all. She’s always known she’s different. No one has ever called her normal, even under the best circumstances. Bizarre and inexplicable things continually happen to her, and having two different colored eyes, strange hair, and an unusual tattoo only contributes to the gossip about her.

When the latest school explosion lands her in a facility for troubled teens, she meets Eli Dregen, who’s hot as hell and darkly mysterious. Their connection is full of passion, danger, and secrets. Secrets that will not only change her life, but what and who she is-leading her down a path she never imagined possible.

Between Light and Dark, Ember finds a world where truth and knowledge are power and no one can be trusted. But her survival depends on finding out truth about herself. In her pursuit, she is forced between love and destiny and good and evil, even when the differences between them aren’t always clear. At worst, she will incite a war that could destroy both worlds. At best, she will not only lose her hear but her life and everyone she loves. Once the truth is out, however, there will be no going back. And she’ll definitely wish she could.

Review:

This is the second series I have read by this author. It took it a little while for the story to pick up and go.

I’m not a fan of Eli. I hate how back and forth he is with Ember. I can never understand what is going to happen with him. He’ll be showing interest into Ember and then suddenly he gets this disgusted look on his face or something happens and he goes back to being an asshole.

Then there is Torin who visits Ember and shows affection to her but he isn’t a big character. At first I was skeptical but I like Torin. I hope he is the one that she ends up with, but that’s mostly due to the fact I don’t like Eli.

I am confused on who Ember is going to end up with since she has Eli and Torin as love interests. The author isn’t very clear on what Ember’s feelings are with both of them. I mean when Ember is with Eli, he’s the center. When she is with Torin, he’s the center. She never thinks of the other guy when she is with the other. If the sentence makes any sense.

The sexual tension though. Damn I could get a butter knife and slice through it. I could practically taste it.

I do like her other series more but I am going to continue with this one.
