The Queen of Traitors by Laura Thalassa

My edition:Kindle Unlimited
Pages: 266
Series: The Fallen World #2
Rating: 4 stars
Synopsis:

They say I am a queen.
They say I married a monster. That I did so willingly.

They say he cannot die, that he does not age. That together, we rule a ravaged world.
They say I used to be one of them, but now I am a traitor.
They say many things, all which I cannot remember, but..

I fear what they say is true.

Then there is what they don’t say, what I see in their eyes- The king terrifies them. He cannot be stopped. And, most worrisome of all…

He is coming for me.

Review: “Coffea acrabica- the plant that’s saved you from killing everyone before eight a.m”
“Not everyone. Just you,” I correct.

I kind of went into this thinking that it was going to take the whole book for the King to get to Serenity. Well sorry to burst your bubble but it takes not even the first half of the book for the king to find her.

“I’m thinking that you’d give the devil a run for his money. In fact, he’s probably worried that you’ll set your sights on his territory next.”

In this book Serenity got on my nerves a bit. She sort of lost that strong heroine she was in the first one. She actually seemed like a whiny brat. She always thought the worst of every situation. Instead of accepting that she is where she is and focus on changing the world, she complained on how she hates the king and how she hates herself for falling for him.

Sometimes I miss the battlefield for this very reason. The enemy is pretty obvious when they’re shooting at you, and you have permission to shoot them back. Here the lines between friend and enemy blur.

Now she did do some good but it really didn’t show due to certain things happening with the Resistance. (Totally sounds like Star Wars.)

I started liking the King more and more. He sort of reminded me of Andre from The Unearthly. Actually he reminded me a lot of Andre. Not a bad thing though. Very much an alpha man.

“We’ve been working on this for a week,” he continues, “And we’ve made no progress. Who do I have to kill to make things happen?”
If only the psycho were joking.

I will give Serenity some credit. She did redeem herself towards the end. At the end I am on the fence with the King. I’m wondering what the hell is going on. The book of course had to end on a cliffhanger.

Luckily I have the third one and can get started right away.
