Review: This is a retelling of The Little Mermaid. Instead of being a mermaid, Dylan is a Selkie who can transform into a sea lion. She can only do this if she has her pelt. One day Dylan and her family are battling a sea witch. Dylan chases her onto land and ends up getting captured. When she wakes up she runs and comes across the Lady Enchantress Angelique. She asks for her voice to be sealed so that the witch can’t make her abuse her power. Of course the only way to break the spell is true love’s kiss.
I love the twist Shea put on this classic tale. This, like Cinderella and the Colonel, was a slow romance. The couple don’t kiss till towards the end. I like how Shea focuses more on the story line than the romance. The romance just falls into place but it is riding back burner to the plot line.
I recommend this to anyone who loves retellings or loves the Little Mermaid.
