Review:

Gianna, poor girl has an overbearing mother. She tries to be the perfect, bitchy, popular girl everyone expects her to be, until Caleb. Caleb is Gianna’s new stepbrother. He sees everything about her, including she is the hottest girl he has ever seen. Gianna being his step sister makes her off limits, but they end up at the same party one night, Caleb kisses her. After the kiss, Caleb is determined to make sure Gianna wants to do what she wants and make sure she has fun.

I love that this is set in Colorado. (My native is coming out.) I know some of the places in the book. Any who another book about forbidden love between a stepbrother and stepsister. Gianna wants to hate Caleb. She thinks he is a “selfish punk”. Her words. Caleb at first thinks she is a popular girl who is another cold-heartless bitch. Then  he sees the other side of her.

I love the teasing Gianna did to Caleb. She could tell that he was protective of her. She wanted just a little bit of payback for him trying to black mail her. At first I was skeptical. I thought this was going to be another book of boy hates girl, girl hates boy, but really the like each other. But Brookshire proved me wrong. It turned out to be a fun, teasing story. I liked the writing. The story was told by Caleb and Gianna’s P.O.V. in first person. I mostly loved the quotes at the beginning of every chapter. I even put a few of my favorite ones in.

Beauty in distress is much the most affecting beauty– Edmund Burke

In youth and beauty, wisdom is but rare!– Homer

Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it’s better to absolutely ridiculous than absoultely boring– Marilyn Monroe
